I want so many running experiences actually. I want to tear through the trails of Brown County again, on 4 hour excursions from one end of the park to the other and back, seemingly getting stronger deeper into the run instead of weaker, tearing around corners and charging up the switchbacks like a predator chasing a prey. Like I used to. I want to run workouts on the boardwalk of Ocean City, New Jersey, circling the route again and again as I chase down faster and faster mile splits. Like I used to. I want to solo the 6 x 1 mile workouts on the rail trail where I crossed every finish marker under 5 minutes flat, feeling superhuman and accomplished for days after. Like I used to. I want to fight against the feeling of dying legs and lungs as my teammates and I push and pull each other around the track through the humid summer air and our fear-inducing 10 x 800s workout. Like I used to. I want to kick out 20 milers in the silent dead of winter and pitch black morning, finishing as the sun breaks the horizon and begins to wake the rest of the city, coming back home to warm pancakes and warmer coffee. Like I used to.

Our daughter, when reprimanded, will “escalate” the encounter, running through all the things she knows we have prohibited, usually ending with her spitting. (Gets a good reaction from us!) This process is quite normal, and it doesn’t bother me per se: She is only retesting the boundaries. But I need a firm way of reaffirming the boundaries.

Let him loose? Yes. It was like the running of the bulls, except the Running of Bennie. He sprinted around my small apartment for about 10 minutes, leaping obstacles (trash), doing damage with his tail (water tail = spilled water), even attempting to frantically re-fluff his favorite bean bag chair. There were toys kicked, sofas climbed, walls run into when corners were taken too fast, a slight stop for water, then the running continued.

Celebrities on this list are typically invited to all the “See and Be Seen” events in Hollywood. But the paparazzi cares slightly less about the personal goings on of these people. B-List celebrities do in fact make it to the covers of strong, reputable publications like People or Vanity Fair. But their appearances in these periodicals are quickly forgotten. However, it is sometimes difficult to assess whether their doing so is a direct attempt to remain in the spotlight. And the marriages of A-Listers to B-Listers almost always make it to the front pages of reputable media publications. In general, though these stars are able to command certain salaries for the projects they work on, their integrity in the public eye is sometimes compromised by their personal issues, or lack of star appeal.
