RIP Bachelor Pad

ABC has cancelled Bachelor Pad.

I would say this was the worst decision in the history of ABC, but there’s worse news: Splash hasn’t been cancelled yet. Seriously ABC, Splash can live on but Bachelor Pad can’t? Obviously no one at ABC took my opinion into consideration! I have no desire to see Z-list celebrities dive into a pool. I’d rather see Z-list celebrities live together in a mansion and fight for money or love – which is the show they essentially just cancelled.

  1. Celebrities on this list are typically invited to all the “See and Be Seen” events in Hollywood. But the paparazzi cares slightly less about the personal goings on of these people. B-List celebrities do in fact make it to the covers of strong, reputable publications like People or Vanity Fair. But their appearances in these periodicals are quickly forgotten. Additionally, these entertainers are sometimes slightly less prestigious than their A-List counterparts. Even still, B-Listers are known to frequently date, mate with, and marry their A-List cohorts. However, it is sometimes difficult to assess whether their doing so is a direct attempt to remain in the spotlight. And the marriages of A-Listers to B-Listers almost always make it to the front pages of reputable media publications. In general, though these stars are able to command certain salaries for the projects they work on, their integrity in the public eye is sometimes compromised by their personal issues, or lack of star appeal.

  2. “Splash” is a show about bodies, and particularly irregular bodies in awkward motion. But since “Watch a 400 pound guy splash into a pool!” and “See ‘The Cosby Show’s’ Rudy wear a keyhole bathing suit!” are crass tag lines, it tries to bury the oogling aspect of its entertainment value underneath a whole lot of crazy, nonsense spectacle and do-gooder justifications.

  4. The cast list for Celebrity Rap Superstar is quintessentially 2007. The show featured Laguna Beach star Jason Wahler, Kevin Federline baby mama Shar Jackson, gossip blogger Perez Hilton, and Playmate Kendra Wilkinson rapping along to classic hip-hop tracks each week. The results were alternately humiliating and disastrous, with Wilkinson’s version of Ludacris’s “What’s Your Fantasy” as the case in point.
